# Terms of use

> Use the site freely. It gives general information, not medical or legal advice, and it can't diagnose anyone. The parent helper is an AI tool for adults that can be wrong. Share the film and guides as much as you like for non-commercial use.

Updated 2026-10-04. Canonical: https://cviexplained.com/terms/

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of CVI Explained ("we", "us"). By using cviexplained.com you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

## 1. What this site is

CVI Explained offers a film, written guides, printable pages and an AI-powered parent helper about cortical/cerebral visual impairment (CVI). It is made by a parent, not a clinic, school or law firm.

## 2. Not medical, legal or educational advice

Everything on this site is general information. It is not medical advice, legal advice, or a recommendation for any specific child. Nothing here creates a doctor-patient, attorney-client or other professional relationship. The site cannot tell you whether a child has CVI. Decisions about your child belong with you and the professionals who know them. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

## 3. The parent helper

- **It's AI.** Answers are generated by an artificial-intelligence model. They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Check anything important, especially dates, deadlines and rights, against your school's documents and your state's rules.
- **Adults only.** You must be 18 or older to use the helper.
- **Your account.** You sign in with your email address. You're responsible for activity under your sign-in. Don't share codes.
- **What you paste.** You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us permission to process it, including sending it to our AI provider, only to produce your answer. Don't submit information you have no right to share. We recommend removing names, birth dates and addresses.
- **Fair use.** We set usage limits so the helper can stay free, and we may change or pause it at any time.
- **No guarantee of results.** We can't promise any outcome with a school, doctor or agency.

## 4. Using the site

You agree not to: break the law; try to access accounts or systems that aren't yours; overload, scrape or disrupt the helper or its sign-in; use the helper to generate content unrelated to its purpose; or misrepresent the site's content as medical or legal advice.

## 5. Sharing and ownership

The film, guides, images and design are owned by the operator of CVI Explained, except for material credited to others. You may view, print, show and share the film, the guides and the one-page teacher guide for personal, educational and other non-commercial purposes, with credit and a link to cviexplained.com. Please don't alter the film or present its images as an exact picture of what any person sees. Any other use needs written permission.

Music in the film is used under the Mixkit Stock Music Free License. Names of other organizations belong to their owners; mentioning them doesn't mean they endorse this site.

## 6. Links and sources

The site links to other organizations for reference. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.

## 7. Privacy

Our [privacy page](/privacy/) explains what we collect and how it's used. It is part of these terms.

## 8. No warranties

The site and the helper are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

## 9. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of CVI Explained is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or the helper. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to US $100.

## 10. Changes and ending access

We may update the site, the helper and these terms. The date at the top shows the last change, and continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms. We may suspend access for anyone who misuses the site.

## 11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the US state where the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

## 12. Contact

Questions about these terms: use the contact address on the [about page](/about/).
